Field Trips

Fully Funded by the Home & School Club (HSC)

One of the most special parts of the Blossom Hill field trip program is that every student has the opportunity to participate. 100% of our field trips are funded by the generous support of the Blossom Hill Home & School Club (HSC), so families are not asked to pay out-of-pocket for individual excursions.

HSC funding covers the full cost of each student experience, including:

  • Admission & Program Fees: Tickets, workshops, educational programs, and guided tours at each destination.
  • Private Transportation for Every Trip: Safe, reliable transportation is an important part of the field trip experience. HSC covers the cost of dedicated private buses for every trip, allowing students and parent chaperones to travel together safely from school to their destination and back.
  • Access for Every Student: Because the program is funded by our community, every Honey Bee can take part in these enriching experiences regardless of their family’s financial circumstances.

Bringing the Curriculum to Life

Field trips are more than just a fun day away from campus. Our grade-level teacher teams thoughtfully select experiences that connect to California State Standards and bring classroom learning to life through hands-on, real-world experiences.

  • Primary Grades (TK–2nd): Younger students explore their local community, community helpers, and foundational life and earth sciences. Trips may include visits to local nature preserves, interactive children’s discovery spaces, working farms, and other hands-on learning environments.
  • Upper Grades (3rd–5th): As students progress through elementary school, field trips build on increasingly complex historical and scientific concepts. Past experiences have connected to California history, marine biology, ecosystems, and physical science through hands-on programs throughout the greater Bay Area.

These experiences create lasting memories while helping students see how the concepts they learn in the classroom connect to the world around them.

Volunteer: Be a Chaperone

We can’t leave campus without you! Our field trips rely heavily on parent chaperones to maintain safe supervision ratios and help guide students through their off-campus activities.

  • How it Works: When your child’s grade-level team announces an upcoming trip, keep an eye out for chaperone sign-up opportunities.
  • Requirements: To ensure student safety, all parent chaperones must complete standard district volunteer clearance prior to the date of the trip.

A Front Row Seat to Learning: Chaperoning a field trip is one of the best ways to see your child interact with their peers, bond with their teachers, and experience the pure joy of discovery in real time.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

  • Are younger siblings allowed to come on field trips? To maintain our strict student-to-adult safety ratios and ensure chaperones can focus 100% of their attention on the students in the class, we are unable to accommodate younger siblings on school field trips.
  • What should my child wear and bring on a field trip day? Teachers will send out a detailed checklist before every trip, but students are generally asked to wear comfortable walking shoes, dress in layers (Bay Area weather can be unpredictable!), and pack a completely waste-free lunch and a refillable water bottle in a lightweight backpack.
