Safe Routes 2 School (SR2S)
Safe Routes to School (SR2S) makes walking, biking, and wheeling to Blossom Hill fun, healthy, and safe! Run in partnership with the school district, the Town of Los Gatos, and the HSC, this program focuses heavily on educating our students and encouraging safe habits. From providing specialized neighborhood route maps and organizing community Walk & Roll events to managing safe drop-off lane guidelines, our parent volunteers work to ensure every student has a safe journey to and from campus.
Together, we support our community with:
- “Walk & Roll” Route Planning: Specialized community maps to help families plan safer walking, biking, or scooting routes that avoid heavy traffic.
- Fun Enrichment Events: Volunteer-led activities like district-wide Walk, Bike & Roll to School Weeks and hands-on safety training at our 3rd Grade Bike Rodeo.
- Daily Commute Safety: Clear parking lot and carpool lane guidelines to ensure our morning drop-off and afternoon pick-up lanes run smoothly and safely.
Volunteer with SR2S
The SR2S Lead works alongside the LGUSD District SR2S Coordinator and the HSC SR2S Lead. This volunteer parent role focuses heavily on Safety Education and Encouragement directly at the school site level.
If you are looking for a rewarding, active way to be involved on campus, helping coordinate our Safe Routes to School program is a perfect fit. It’s a wonderful opportunity to promote healthy habits, keep our neighborhood streets safe, and connect with families outdoors:
- Promote & Coordinate Walk, Bike & Roll Weeks: Work closely with the district, HSC, and Student Council to bring these high-energy encouragement weeks to life on campus.
- Assist the SR2S Coordinator with executing the 3rd Grade Bike Rodeo.
- Coordinate Crossing Guard Appreciation Day: Lead the effort to celebrate and thank our dedicated campus crossing guards, organizing community appreciation tokens or acknowledgments to show our gratitude.
