Lights, Camera, Variety Show!
The stage is set, the spotlights are ready, and our Cool Cats are about to shine! The Daves Avenue Variety Show is one of our most beloved, high-energy school traditions. Fully funded by the HSC and held right here on campus during the school day, this special event is a pure celebration of the incredible talents, creativity, and passions of our 3rd, 4th, and 5th-grade students.
Stepping up to perform takes a lot of heart, and the Variety Show is all about nurturing that bravery! Whether they are singing, dancing, playing an instrument, performing a skit, or showcasing a unique skill, we are dedicated to celebrating the incredible courage and confidence it takes for these young performers to share their talents.
There are no judges or critiques here—just a mountain of school spirit, endless high-fives, and a community ready to cheer them on!

Volunteer Roles
- Event Lead(s): Work with the HSC to help shape this year’s vision, coordinate the acts, and manage the behind-the-scenes planning. Note: You don’t have to do it alone—grab a friend or two to co-lead with you!
- Auditions & Rehearsal Coordinator: Manage the sign-up schedules for student auditions, track act lengths, organize the rehearsal calendar, and keep everyone running on time during practice sessions.
- Teacher Liaison / Communications: Inform teachers about which of their students are performing, and keep both school staff and families updated on key dates, rehearsal schedules, and stage safety guidelines.
- Music & Tech Emcee: Run the sound system, manage the background tracks for each act, control the stage lighting, and make sure the microphones are crisp and ready.
- Set-up Crew: Help us on the day of the show to ensure the event is seamless, safe, and completely stress-free for our brave performers.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
- Who can participate in the Variety Show? A: Every student in grades 3rd-5th is welcome to participate! Whether they want to sing, dance, play an instrument, perform a skit, show off a martial arts routine, or demonstrate a unique talent, we want to see them shine.
- Can my child be in more than one act? No, students are limited to one act only to ensure that as many children as possible get a chance to share the spotlight!
- Will everyone who tries out make it into the show? Yes! There are no cuts. The purpose of tryouts is simply to make sure routines and costumes are appropriate and well-timed for the show. (We may shorten a routine’s length to fit it into the program, but every group that submits a video will have a spot on stage!)
- Are tickets required for the show? Admission is free for all families, through generous donations made to the HSC, which covers production costs and stage rental.
- How can I help if my child isn’t performing? We would love your help! A production this size requires a village. You can volunteer to help set up, decorate, usher guests, chaperone the upcoming performers, or help clean up after the final curtain call.
An event this special requires a dedicated parent team to organize, set the stage, and get the show on the road! If you’re ready to lend a hand and bring this show to life, please email us at
