Play Audition Information - FAQs
Audition Checklist:
• Complete online application by Oct. 16th
• Turn in Audition Form (completed by performer) with ‘headshot’ photo to your school office by end of school Oct. 16th
• Your child should practice the short song portion from the show (sheet music and mp3 of song is at the bottom of this page). They don’t need to memorize it---though that is a good idea, as it may help them feel more comfortable. They’ll have the song sheet and music to sing with at the audition. They don’t need to be nervous…just relax and do their best!

Each child should attend 4 audition sessions:
They will learn songs and dances that will be in the actual show, so the audition time will be used like a rehearsal. The artistic staff will be watching throughout the audition sessions, to best assign kids their roles.
If your child can’t make their assigned audition times/dates below, please have them attend the other time for that type of audition.
Stay tuned for schedule. Auditions will start the week of October 21st. More details to come!
Audition Questions:
What happens at auditions?
The director, choreographers, and vocal director want to get a general idea of each child’s abilities in order to place them in an appropriate role. Your child may prepare the short song bit from the show (Coming Soon see bottom of this document; mp3 recording of song is on play website). Each child will also learn a dance and small speaking scene during the audition process. The directing team will watch and listen to the children over the audition period (4 auditions per child) and make their casting decisions based on their observations.
What should students bring to auditions?
Your child doesn’t need to bring anything to the audition. They should have had a snack and restroom break prior to arriving. They must wear comfortable clothes and dance shoes or sneakers to auditions. Long hair must be tied back.
What if I can’t make the times for my child’s school or grade or an audition session?
Please do your best to have your child attend one session each of the 4 audition days. For example, if your child is a Daves Ave student, please try to attend one of the other school’s sessions. The same is true for the grade level. If your child cannot make any one of the audition sessions, please let the producers know ([email protected]). Also, if your child cannot make the Saturday audition session, please let the producers ([email protected]) know by Wednesday, October 16th.
Are parents or family members allowed to watch the auditions/rehearsals?
Parents are not allowed to observe auditions.
Parents may watch rehearsals while volunteering as rehearsal supervisors.
When and where will the cast list be posted?
The cast list will be posted on the play website Sunday evening, Oct. 27th.
