Makeup and Hair Instructions

BASIC MAKEUP & HAIR INSTRUCTIONS
For Dress Rehearsals, Preview Nights, & Performances

Makeup (For Sunday Jan. 26th’s Dress Rehearsals, Preview Nights, & Performances) Detailed Tips
  1. Start with a clean face by washing with soap before each application
  2. Start with a foundation (base) that is one shade darker than their complexion.
  3. Using a sponge, gently blend foundation on entire face (eyelids, and over mouth included) and continue to blend down their chin, neck and to the jawbone.
  4. Blush- Apply blush using a sponge. Start at the top of the cheekbones and work diagonally toward the mouth. You can ask your actor to make a fishy mouth so you can find their natural cheekbones.
  5. Eyeliner- black or brown to the top and bottom lid leaving the inner and outer creases untouched. Connecting the lids at the creases actually can cause the eyes to appear more closed than open. No Cat-eye style liner. Brows may be GENTLY filled in on lighter-haired kids
  6. Mascara- Generously apply black or brown to the top and bottom lashes focusing on the ends of the lashes
  7. Lipstick- Apply using a q-tip. Color should be natural but stand out from the face (earthtones, peach, NO RED
  8. Please LABEL items in your child’s makeup bag individually with a sharpie.  They should bring their makeup bags to each show.

You do not need to apply eyeshadow or do any contouring. We do not want them to look like they are made-up, but their features should be seen under the bright stage lights.

IN SUMMARY…
To be applied at home by parent:
  1. Compact Foundation – Blended naturally over face and down over jawbone
  2. Blush – Apply to the apples of the cheeks, lightly highlighting the cheeks
  3. Eyeliner – For both boys and girls; leaving the outer corners open
  4. Mascara – For both boys and girls; apply generously
  5. Lipstick – For both boys and girls; in a natural color that helps define lips but isn’t bright
  6. Please LABEL items in your child’s makeup bag individually with a sharpie.  They should bring their makeup bags to each show.

To be done by Hair & Makeup Committee at BH during makeup checks:
  1. Lip liner and lipstick touchups
  2. Blush touchups
